Please see the Contact Us page to send an e-mail request to the appropriate EDI area you are interested in testing with. Also visit our Getting Started page and submit the online form for the transaction you are planning to test.
Which EDI versions/standards does P&G support?
Please visit our Maps page to see a listing of our most requested transactions and versions supported. If you are interested in a version higher than 4010 that is not listed, please visit the Contact Us page and contact the EDI group you are interested in working with to determine if a map is available.
What Value Added Network (VAN) should I use to trade EDI documents with P&G?
P&G does not require the use of a specific VAN or EDI provider to trade EDI documents with the exception of Physical Distribution EDI. We are able to trade documents directly through Sterling Commerce and GXS. If you use a different VAN, please have your VAN or provider set up an interconnection to one of the providers listed on the VANs page. P&G will not pay for customer VAN fees of any kind. Costs incurred by the customer due to VAN usage will be paid by the customer.
Where can I get mapping specifications for the P&G transactions?
All of our mapping specifications are downloadable from this web site. See our Maps page.
How do I contact a P&G EDI team?
The contact information for each area (retail, financial and transportation carriers), is listed in our Contact Us page.
Is P&G capable of communication via AS2?
Please see the AS2 (PDF) attachment for an overview of the P&G EDIINT standard. Please contact edicoe.im@pg.com to initiate this setup.
The P&G policy is that a previously used purchase order cannot be re-used until 14 days after its first use. If a purchase order is re-used before this time period, it will be rejected by the P&G order system.
If my company has a change in our EDI Training Partner ID/Qualifier, whom should we notify and when should we notify them?
Please send all changes in EDI identifiers to the appropriate EDI contact area mentioned in our Contact Us page. Please notify us at least one month before the changes become effective.
I received a 997 Functional Acknowledgement. How do I read it?
Please refer to the UCC Guidelines on how 997 Functional Acknowledgements should be processed and read. P&G acknowledges all documents received from partners within the time frame specified by the standard and version being used or 24 hours, whichever is shorter.
I did not receive a 997 Functional Acknowledgement for the EDI document I sent. What do I do and whom do I contact?
Transmission of vendor EDI transactions will be acknowledged according to the guidelines for the standard version being used. The 997 acknowledgement will be used all transactions. It is the sender's responsibility to verify P&G has acknowledged transmissions and take appropriate action if the expected acknowledgments have not been forthcoming within the time specified by the standard and version being used or within 24 hours, whichever is the shorter period. Please check your EDI system or contact your EDI VAN or provider to investigate if the EDI document was transferred to the P&G mailbox before contacting the P&G EDI area that you are working with.
How do I get started with Data Synchronization with P&G?
The ACH Network is a highly reliable and efficient nationwide batch-oriented electronic funds transfer system. The network is governed by standard operating rules which provides for the clearing of electronic payments between financial institutions.
What is an EDI 820?
The EDI 820 is an electronic file format that establishes the data content of the payment order/remittance advice transaction set within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. This standard transaction set is used to transmit remittance and/or payment information to a bank with instructions to begin funds transfer. Using the EDI 820 transaction set to electronically transmit data between business partners enables consistent interpretation of payment information and reduces the chances of interpretive and data entry errors.
Will my payment terms change if I convert to FEDI EFT?
FEDI terms will be current terms plus two days. Meeting current P&G terms is "check in bank," not postmark date.
Is testing required?
Testing is required. A requirement of the FEDI payment option is that the data included in the EDI 820 be capable of processing through P&G's AR systemic cash application with no manual intervention required. A robust testing file will expose most common outages and resolution of any outages necessary to implement the electronic payment option.
If I am a carrier rather than a retail customer, how do I get started?
P&G only exchanges EDI data with carriers that are currently hauling P&G prepaid freight and are under contract with us. When awarded P&G business, you will be provided with an EDI contact to begin the testing process with. Any questions, please contact the P&G person that awarded freight to your company.
Carriers interested in handling P&G business that are not currently under contract can send information about their company's capabilities in the near future by accessing the following Web site: www.pgsupplier.com.
What transaction sets are you exchanging?
Our current transaction sets that we exchange are as follows:
We only exchange X12 standards and are currently supporting v4010.
Is testing required?
Testing is required. P&G wants to ensure that the data exchanged is not only syntactically correct but also contains the information required to properly apply in our internal systems.
What Value Added Network (VAN) should I use to trade EDI documents with P&G — Physical Distribution?
We currently execute our Physical Distribution EDI applications by using a simple mail boxing function at our VAN, Kleinschmidt. All transportation transactions to and from P&G must flow through this mailbox function.
Because of this requirement, P&G does currently pay for all data in/out of our VAN. If you use a different VAN, or your service provider uses a different VAN, please have your VAN/provider setup an interconnection to Kleinschmidt.
P&G is looking into the possibility of offering alternative means of exchanging data in the future.
